The first five books I used to unpack my God container.
Rohr is my favorite spiritual giant, and this is one of his greats. I still read this book yearly. Puts “journey” language around what a walk of faith looks like. 10/10.
Almost everything I know about the faith formation of children began with Meredith Miller. She is the GOAT.
Pete Enns and his podcast, “The Bible for Normal People” taught me to take the Bible seriously , not literally.
I remember the exact place I was sitting when I read this book in 2016. It was my first exposure to the difference between being “culturally Christian” and being a disciple of Christ. Jen helped me opened the box I had built around God in my teens.
If the Bible feels wonky to you, start here. You will love it a little more when you’re finished with this book. Evans situates Scripture not only in context but in genre,.
RHE was brilliant. Prophetic. Funny. I got to watch her give a lecture at a conference just before she passed away in 2019. Rachel was one of the first women to give me permission to show up with my whole brain and ask questions. She taught me that to wrestle with God was to demand my blessing. I miss her so much.
